Openreach volunteers scale the Three Peaks of Wales raising £1000 for Air Ambulance

A team of dedicated volunteers from Openreach swapped their hard hats and ladders for walking boots as they successfully completed their own version of Three Peaks Challenge in Wales, raising an impressive £1000 in support of the Wales Air Ambulance.
More than 30 Openreach engineers from across Wales recently embarked on the gruelling expedition to conquer the three highest peaks in Wales—Yr Wyddfa, Cadair Idris and Pen y Fan. With groups of engineers all starting at the base of each peak at the same time they took on the challenge – and the summer heat – to scale a combined elevation of over 3,000 meters.
The objective behind this extraordinary feat was to raise funds for the vital services provided by the Charity. With every step they took, the Openreach volunteers were driven by the knowledge that their efforts would directly contribute to saving lives and providing emergency critical medical care across the region.

The Openreach volunteers have already received great support from colleagues, friends, and family raising a combined total of more than £1000 so far. Further donation can be made here.

To climb three mountains in one day is no small task and we thank all of those who took part and raised vital funds for our service.

The money raised will directly benefit the air ambulance service, enabling them to continue their vital work of providing rapid response and emergency medical care in Wales.
Openreach is committed to corporate social responsibility, actively engaging in initiatives that support local causes and organizations. Openreach engineers can volunteer locally for three days every year and by encouraging employees to participate in charitable activities, the company aims to foster a culture of giving back and making a difference in the communities it serves.

Recent research by the Centre for Economics and Business Research (Cebr) highlighted the clear economic benefits of connecting everyone in Wales to full fibre. It estimated this would create a £2 billion boost to the Welsh economy.

Gwirfoddolwyr Openreach yn codi £1000 ar gyfer Ambiwlans Awyr wrth ddringo Tri Chopa Cymreig
Yn ddiweddar roedd tîm o wirfoddolwyr Openreach Cymru wedi diosg eu hetiau diogelwch a gwisgo sgidiau cerdded cadarn er mwyn cyflawni fersiwn eu hunain o’r Her Tri Chopa, gan godi swm o £1000 i gefnogi Ambiwlans Awyr Cymru.
Roedd dros 30 o beirianwyr Openreach o bob rhan o Gymru wedi taclo’r her o ddringo tri chopa uchaf Cymru - Yr Wyddfa, Cadair Idris & Pen y Fan. Gyda grwpiau gwahanol yn dechrau ar lethrau isaf y tri chopa ar yr un pryd, taclwyd yr her - a gwres yr haf - i ddringo cyfanswm o dros 3,000 metr.
Y nod oedd codi arian ar gyfer gwasanaethau hanfodol Ambiwlans Awyr Cymru. Ar bob cam o’r her, roedd gwirfoddolwyr Openreach yn gwybod byddai eu hymdrechion yn cyfrannu’n uniongyrchol at achub bywydau a darparu gofal meddygol brys ar draws y rhanbarth.
Dywedodd Shaun White, uwchreolwr Cymru Openreach: "Rydym mor falch o ymdrechion y tîm yn cwblhau Her y Tri Chopa.
"Mae Ambiwlans Awyr Cymru yn darparu gwasanaeth gwerthfawr ar gyfer y boblogaeth ac fel corff roeddem mor falch o helpu i godi arian ar gyfer achos gwych, tra hefyd yn rhoi cyfle i’r gweithwyr ddod ynghyd tu allan i waith a phrofi harddwch naturiol y wlad.”

Erbyn hyn, mae gwirfoddolwyr Openreach wedi codi dros £1000 gyda chymorth cydweithwyr, ffrindiau a theuluoedd, ac mae modd gwneud rhoddion pellach yma.
Bydd yr arian a godir yn cefnogi’r gwasanaeth ambiwlans awyr yn uniongyrchol, gan ei helpu i barhau â’i waith hanfodol wrth ymateb i alwadau am ofal meddygol brys ar draws y wlad.
Mae Openreach wedi ymrwymo i gynnal cyfrifoldebau cymdeithasol corfforaethol, wrth drefnu mentrau i gefnogi achosion a chyrff lleol. Rhoir cyfle i beirianwyr Openreach wirfoddoli yn lleol am dri diwrnod y flwyddyn wrth eu cymell i fod yn rhan o weithgareddau elusennol. Nod hir dymor y cwmni yw meithrin diwylliant sy’n ceisio rhoi rhywbeth nôl a gwneud gwahaniaeth o fewn y cymunedau mae’n gwasanaethu.
