Careers at Openreach
We designed our career programmes to make working for Openreach accessible for everyone. We need great people – and great people come with different backgrounds and experiences. If you’ve got the passion and drive to take on new challenges, then you could be just who we’re looking for.
Trainee engineer programme
You don’t need an engineering background to begin an apprenticeship with Openreach – just the right mentality and an enthusiasm to learn new skills and take on challenges every day.
Whether you’re a young person who’s just starting out in the world of work, or someone who wants to change career, we offer world-class training, great benefits, and the chance to connect people every day.
Civils Engineers
Our Civil Engineers maintain and build our network, including building Full Fibre to bring speeds of up to 1 Gb to people around the UK.
If you're the type of person who likes being out on the road and working in all kinds of locations, takes pride in doing things properly and seeing jobs through, can manage your time and workload and are open to new technology we want you to apply.
Graduate Programmes
We want our graduate programmes to help us find the experts and leaders of the future. To do that, we make sure they’re structured to help our graduates gain the skills and experience you’ll need to build an exciting career at Openreach.
We offer programmes in business, finance, and technical consultancy, and all of them place you in the heart of a fast-paced and dynamic environment. You’ll work on projects that have a real business impact and we’ll work with you to define and plan your career path.
Ex-military programme
We’re proud of the work we do to help ex-military personnel begin a new career. Over 1000 of our team members served in the armed forces, and we work closely with the MOD’s Career Transition Partnership on regular careers fairs. These are run by veterans and offer an insight into working for the company, career and CV guidance, and help with goal setting. Our Armed Forces Network also fundraises for veterans charities and raises awareness through Armed Forces Week and the November Ceremonies.
