Quiet village has Essex's best full fibre broadband coverage
A quiet village in the Epping Forest has the best ultrafast broadband coverage in Essex, Openreach has revealed.
The UK’s biggest wholesale network provider has revealed the location in the county with the highest levels of full fibre coverage.
In Sheering, more than nine in every 10 homes and businesses are able to upgrade to ultrafast, ultra-reliable broadband through a provider of their choice on the Openreach network.
Nazeing ranks second, with over nine out of every 10 properties also able to access full fibre. Southminster, Hullbridge and Latchingdon round off the top five locations.
More than half of homes and businesses throughout Essex are now able to upgrade to full fibre through Openreach – but many people are still missing out.
While more than 39 per cent of properties with access to full fibre have upgraded, it means hundreds of thousands are missing out on the benefits.
Openreach engineers are hard at work throughout Essex, bringing full fibre to more properties in Southend-on-Sea, South Benfleet and Vange.
Kieran Wines, Openreach Partnership Director, said: “Our amazing engineers and build partners have done a wonderful job to help us reach this milestone.
“This full fibre upgrade is a huge boost for Essex. We’re adopting a balanced build, bringing ultrafast speeds to the region’s biggest towns as well as the most rural communities.
“People in Essex should visit the Openreach website to see if they can upgrade to full fibre already or see when we’re coming to their area.”
Anyone wanting to see if they can upgrade can go to Openreach fibre checker to register for updates and check their postcode to see if services are available from their chosen provider. They can then contact their provider to upgrade.
The Openreach network offers the widest choice of providers, such as BT, Sky, TalkTalk, Vodafone and Zen, which means people have lots of choice and can shop for the best deals.
