London's number one Full Fibre broadband hotspot revealed
Openreach has revealed the London borough which has the best ultrafast Full Fibre broadband coverage
More than 1.5 million homes and businesses across London are able to access Full Fibre connectivity through Openreach’s network, with engineers working to reach more properties throughout the city.
To mark the milestone, the UK’s biggest broadband network provider has revealed the London borough with the highest level of fibre coverage.
In Barking and Dagenham, more than eight out of 10 premises are able to upgrade to ultrafast, ultra-reliable Full Fibre broadband through a provider of their choice.
Bexley, Redbridge, Hillingdon and Merton round off the top five.
Openreach is continuing build new and expand its existing Full Fibre network throughout London.
Elaine Hope, Openreach’s Partnership Director for London, said: “This Full Fibre upgrade is a huge boost for London. Better connectivity helps communities thrive and supports people to work from home easily, keep in touch with their loved ones and build connections and opportunities.
“It’s important to understand that, while we’re building the infrastructure, upgrades aren’t automatic. People need to place an order with their chosen providers to get connected and we’ll do the rest. Our network offers the widest choice of providers such as EE, Sky, TalkTalk, Vodafone and Zen – which means people have lots of choice and can get a great deal.
“Even if you already have a decent enough service, it’s worth checking if you can upgrade, because Full Fibre is the future and it provides the best broadband experience at great value for money. There’ll be no more worrying that your video call might freeze, or your files are failing to upload when everyone’s at home competing for bandwidth at the same time.”
“And we’re not stopping yet; our investment across the city continues at pace with build continuing at forty locations across Greater London”.
People can visit www.openreach.co.uk/ultrafastfullfibre to register for updates and check their postcode to see if services are available from their chosen provider. They can then contact their provider to upgrade to Full Fibre.
