Broadband upgrade for thousands of Enfield flats and apartments
Openreach has joined forces with the London Borough of Enfield to make full fibre broadband available to thousands of flats and apartments.
The agreement will see faster, more reliable broadband made available to more than 1,500 properties across over 50 buildings initially, with agreement in place to connect thousands more in the future.
Full fibre technology offers a faster, more reliable broadband connection. The once-in-a-generation technology enables locals to connect multiple devices at gigabit-capable speeds and will help businesses trade online and compete for decades to come.
“We’re thrilled to be working with the London Borough of Enfield on this significant broadband upgrade,” said Lilly Cunningham, Openreach MDU professional.
“Working together is a crucial step in making sure that residents across Enfield have access to some of the best broadband available anywhere in the UK.
“The upgrades are not automatic, so once full fibre is available, tenants should contact their broadband provider, place an order to get connected, and we’ll do the rest.”
The flats and apartments will join more than 2.3m homes and businesses across Greater London that already have access to full fibre through Openreach.
However, many who could upgrade have done so, meaning many are missing out on a faster, more reliable service.
Enfield Council’s cabinet member for housing, Cllr Ayten Guzel, said: “We are pleased to be working with Openreach to bring faster, more reliable Full Fibre broadband to thousands of our residents. Access to high‑quality digital connectivity is essential for work, education and staying connected with family and friends.
“This investment means residents living in our council homes will benefit from modern infrastructure that supports everyday life. Improving the quality of our housing stock is a key priority for the Council, and this programme is an important step in delivering on our Housing Asset Management Strategy.”

Openreach’s full fibre network now reaches more than 22 million properties, and the company plans to extend this to 25 million homes and businesses by the end of 2026, with a belief it can reach as many as 30 million by the end of the decade – with the right investment conditions.
