Openreach has announced a new Girls’ Network partnership, launching a mentor programme for 20 girls aged 14–19 from Merseyside and the West Midlands. The initiative aims to boost confidence, provide access to positive role models, and build practical life and workplace skills.
The programme will run for 10 months and involve face-to-face mentoring sessions delivered by Openreach volunteers from across the business. The company is also donating £10,000 to help expand The Girls’ Network’s reach.
The Girls’ Network works to ensure that no girl’s future is limited by background, gender, or income. Through one-to-one mentoring, life-skills workshops and a national network of role models, it helps girls build confidence, set goals and access new opportunities.
Diana Roper, Openreach’s Organisation Effectiveness Director, said:
“We’re excited to partner with The Girls’ Network. Our people can make a lasting impact by sharing life experience and helping young girls believe in their potential.”
Last year, 93% of mentees in the programme said their mentor helped them feel more positive about the future, and 91% reported increased confidence.
Naomi Hook, Partnerships Manager at The Girls’ Network, said:
“Openreach mentors will benefit too – developing their own skills while supporting the next generation of female talent.”
The Girls’ Network currently supports schools and colleges across London, Merseyside, Portsmouth, Southampton, Sussex, Tees Valley, Tyne & Wear, and the West Midlands.
