We’re proudly changing our logo today ahead of Pride in London because Pride matters to Openreach.
Our LGBT+ employees contribute huge amounts to the workforce every day. However, recent results from the UK Government have shown some worrying trends, with large numbers of people feeling unable to come out at work, and 23 per cent experiencing a negative reaction from colleagues when they did. Even more alarmingly, around 40 per cent of LGBT+ people in the UK have experienced a hate crime.
We want to make a statement that our people should be free to be who they are at Openreach. We know that when people bring their whole self to work, they perform better. It’s good for all of us too. A study by Credit Suisse showed businesses with strong diversity and visible LGBT+ leaders outperformed their peers.
So for those attending Pride in London this weekend, or any of the hundreds of Pride’s around the country, and to all the allies out there that support their LGBT+ colleagues, a very happy Pride season.
