Openreach Engineer Pre-Visit

What is a pre-visit?

Before we can connect your premises to our Full Fibre network, we need to check that everything is ready. This might include inspecting nearby underground cables or making sure a telegraph pole can support a new fibre line. Sometimes, we may need access to the outside of your property to complete these checks.

Does someone need to be present?

You won't usually need to be present when our engineers carry out a pre-visit.

However, in a small number of cases - for example, if we need to check a part of the network that is behind a locked gate - we may contact you to arrange access for the engineer’s pre-visit. In this case, you'll need to ensure someone over the age of 18 is present. If not, we’ll contact you to arrange another time to return and complete the work.

What happens after the pre-visit?

Following the completion of any pre-visit work, we will arrange a date for Full Fibre installation at your premises.

Frequently asked questions

  • Have I missed my installation?

Not at all! Once we've completed our pre-visit checks and any other preparations, we'll confirm your Full Fibre installation appointment date. In most cases, this happens a few days after the pre-visit.

  • How do I book a pre-visit, and when will it take place?

If we need access to your property, our engineer will leave a ‘Sorry we missed you’ card. Just follow the instructions on the card, and we’ll call you back to arrange a convenient time to visit.

  • I didn’t know you were coming

In most cases, you will have received communication from Openreach and your Service Provider to let you know we need to carry out a pre-visit. For more information, please contact your Service Provider.

  • What happens if I don't do anything?

It's important that you follow the instructions on the ‘Sorry we missed you’ card to contact us and arrange a suitable date, to avoid any delays to your Full Fibre installation.
