Analogue phone line

An analogue phone line uses the copper telephone network – it’s the system we’ve been using for over a century. While it’s served us all well, it’s time for an upgrade – which is why we’re phasing it out gradually, before switching it off by 31st January 2027. It’s worth bearing that in mind when making your choice of which type of phone line you want to use for your broadband.

How we’ll install your Copper broadband

Almost all homes and businesses in the UK are already equipped for Copper broadband. You can easily check by looking for the Openreach master socket, which is where your phone and your router plug into the wall.

If you find one, you can order Copper broadband from your chosen service provider. If not, we’ll send an engineer. We’ll have to drill into the wall to install one, so you’ll need the permission of the property owner.
