Broadband upgrade Grangemouth begins connecting 1,000+ properties

Openreach has confirmed that the first 1,000 homes and businesses in Grangemouth can now access its ultrafast full fibre broadband network. The project is part of a wider plan to connect the majority of local properties, bringing future-ready connectivity to the town.

The new technology supports gigabit-capable speeds, ideal for remote work, seamless streaming, online gaming and business-critical tasks.

Why full fibre matters for new homes in Grangemouth

Full Fibre broadband is:

  • More reliable than copper connections
  • Resilient to faults and consistent during peak times
  • Capable of supporting multiple devices and users simultaneously
  • Built to last – future-proofing homes and businesses for decades

Openreach has already upgraded over 38,000 premises across Falkirk, but only 26% have switched, meaning thousands are missing out.

Local delivery and economic impact

The rollout in Grangemouth is being supported by Openreach build partner Circet, whose teams are working to minimise disruption during street-level work.

Robert Thorburn, Partnership Director for Scotland, said:
“Grangemouth is part of our balanced build across urban and rural Scotland. Connecting everyone in Scotland would result in a multi-billion pound economic boost.”

The infrastructure upgrade is part of Openreach’s plan to reach 25 million UK premises with Full Fibre broadband by the end of 2026.
