Hi I'm Joe, an Openreach engineer. In this video I'll guide you through the steps you need to take to set up your new Full Fibre broadband. I'll also walk you through some useful tips to help resolve any start up issues.

When you place your order, your service provider will have agreed a date for your activation. You should have then received further communications from Openreach.

If you rely on your phone line to make calls, operate your intruder alarm, or you have a health pendant or wrist alarm, make sure your service provider is aware to make your transition smooth and worry free.

First, find your Optical Network Terminal or ONT. That's the small white box with the Openreach logo on usually found close to a power socket. This box connects you to our Full Fibre Network.

Next check your ONT is powered on. It should have its own dedicated power supply, and the power light should be illuminated.

Finally, connect your ONT to the router sent by your service provider. Make sure everything is securely connected. You should hear a satisfying click when the cable locks into place. If you haven't received your router yet, don't worry, you can connect it when it arrives. If you have a battery backup unit to install or are expecting one, please refer to the instruction manual or contact your service provider for further support.

If you're unable to locate your ONT, have no power supply, notice a red light or see no power light, then an engineer may need to visit. Simply, respond to the messages we've sent you to let us know. If you're unable to complete our checks, don't worry, we can still activate your service as planned on your activation date.

On the day, make sure everything is switched on and ready. Your Full Fibre service should be activated before midnight.

Once everything is up and running our end, we'll message you to let you know your broadband's active. If there are any problems, we'll guide you through some simple checks to get you connected quickly.

When you can see a solid PON and LAN light like this, you're connected and ready to go.

If there are no lights, a flashing PON light, or a red LOS light, there may be a connection issue. First, try turning your ONT off at the power source, waiting 30 seconds, then turning it back on. If this doesn't help, locate the small reset button. Using a paper clip or a mobile SIM card ejector tool, press and hold it for 10 to 15 seconds or until all the ONT lights go off. Then release the button and allow the ONT to power back up. If you have followed these steps and the issue persists, contact your service provider for further support.

If you've ordered a phone service, this should activate on the same day, as it operates through your broadband connection. If you have no dial tone first check that your broadband is working by following the steps we've just covered. If your broadband is functioning properly, refer to the instruction manual for your landline or contact your service provider.

That's it, you're all set to enjoy your Full Fibre, the UK's most reliable broadband technology. That means you'll see a lot less buffering and slowdown at busy times. The whole household can stream, game and video call all at once.
