Competitive salary

We review our salaries every year, to make sure they're always fair and competitive within the industry.

Holiday allowance

We all need a holiday sometimes, and with a minimum of 22 days paid leave for our team members and 25 days for managers (rising up to 30 days depending on how long you stay with us) you’ll always be able to take a break when you need to. Managers can also ‘buy’ up to five extra days a year, just in case life throws up any surprises.

Sick pay

There’s nothing more important than your health. If you need to take some time off sick, we’ll keep paying your full salary for up to 3 months - so you can focus on getting better.

Wellbeing schemes

It’s important to us that we support everyone here, both inside and outside of work. That’s why we offer programmes of counselling sessions and wellbeing training, as well as toolkits that you can use to help maintain a healthy work/life balance. 

Life assurance

If you sign up to our workplace pension, you’ll get life assurance cover of up to 10x your salary. Otherwise, you also have the option of adding life assurance through our flexible rewards scheme.

Safety Training

Safety is our top priority at Openreach, without exception. Our WorkSafe, HomeSafe programme makes sure that everyone gets the right training for their role. Just to be on the extra safe side, we also run refresher courses at least once a year.

Pension

Planning for the future is important – that’s why we keep our pension competitive, so we can help look after your future. If you contribute 5% of your salary, we’ll add another 10% on top.

DirectShare

Our DirectShare scheme lets you easily buy shares from BT Group. You can contribute anything from between £10 and £1800 a year, and because it comes directly from your gross salary, it’s a tax efficient way to invest.

YourShare

YourShare is another way that you can be a part of the wider success of Openreach and BT Group. The exact value will depend on the performance of the Group as a whole, but each year we’ll offer up to £500 of shares to every member of the Openreach team.

Benevolent Fund

Our healthcare scheme is administered by AXA and allows you to choose your plan - all the way up to full family cover. For some management roles this won’t apply, and a different healthcare provision may be part of your contracted benefits.

Critical Illness Insurance

Health Screening

As part of Openreach you can access health screenings with BUPA - think of it as an MOT for your body. There are four different options, but each will give you a detailed overview of your physical condition, as well as guidance and support in how to improve or maintain your health going forward.

Nomination Schemes

Everyone at Openreach pulls in the same direction, but when someone really goes above and beyond, we all like to show our appreciation. That’s why we have quarterly awards within our business units -there are prizes of up to £250, and the winner’s chosen from those nominated by their colleagues.
