Working for us means being part of something special – and we think connecting the nation should have some perks. We’ve put together a set of benefits and rewards to help you make the most of your time with us.
We review our salaries every year, to make sure they're always fair and competitive within the industry.
We all need a holiday sometimes, and with a minimum of 22 days paid leave for our team members and 25 days for managers (rising up to 30 days depending on how long you stay with us) you’ll always be able to take a break when you need to. Managers can also ‘buy’ up to five extra days a year, just in case life throws up any surprises.
There’s nothing more important than your health. If you need to take some time off sick, we’ll keep paying your full salary for up to 3 months - so you can focus on getting better.
It’s important to us that we support everyone here, both inside and outside of work. That’s why we offer programmes of counselling sessions and wellbeing training, as well as toolkits that you can use to help maintain a healthy work/life balance.
If you sign up to our workplace pension, you’ll get life assurance cover of up to 10x your salary. Otherwise, you also have the option of adding life assurance through our flexible rewards scheme.
Safety is our top priority at Openreach, without exception. Our WorkSafe, HomeSafe programme makes sure that everyone gets the right training for their role. Just to be on the extra safe side, we also run refresher courses at least once a year.
(Dependant on role)
Our performance-based bonus scheme means that we reward your hard work and share our success with you.
Planning for the future is important – that’s why we keep our pension competitive, so we can help look after your future. If you contribute 5% of your salary, we’ll add another 10% on top.
If you work for us, or are a former colleague who receives a pension, then the Benevolent fund is here for you. If you find yourself in financial difficulty, it can help you get back on your feet.
We know that, depending on where you’re based, the daily commute can add up. That’s why we offer an interest free loan - so that you can buy your season ticket and repay the costs over 10 months.
We offer monthly vouchers – with savings of up to 7% - so you can save money on your shopping in the kind of places we all use every day, like ASDA, M&S, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and John Lewis.
We make it easy to earn WOW points through Perks at Work, alongside offering exclusive discounts on over 2000 brands. Whether you’re off to the cinema, updating your wardrobe, upgrading to the latest gadget, or picking up some home or garden ware, you can save money with every purchase.
There’s lots of reasons you might want to cycle to work – it could be to exercise, to save money, or to cut down on your carbon footprint. Whatever your reason, our partnership with Halfords gives you fantastic tax savings when buying a bike, alongside a 5% discount on all accessories.
Our healthcare scheme is administered by AXA and allows you to choose your plan - all the way up to full family cover. For some management roles this won’t apply, and a different healthcare provision may be part of your contracted benefits.
Our dental insurance scheme is here to help cover the cost of any dental work, either routine or emergency, for both you and your family.
Planning for the future sometimes means hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. Our critical illness insurance scheme means that in the event of a serious illness, you can receive a lump-sum payment to help cover your cost of living.
As part of Openreach you can access health screenings with BUPA - think of it as an MOT for your body. There are four different options, but each will give you a detailed overview of your physical condition, as well as guidance and support in how to improve or maintain your health going forward.
It’s much easier to hit the gym regularly when you’re happy and comfortable in your surroundings. We offer discounted membership to most of the UK’s best gyms and fitness centres, including David Lloyd, Nuffield Health, DW Fitness, Virgin Active, Fitness First, Living Well, LA Fitness, Otium, and Pure Gym.
At Openreach, a job isn’t just a job – it’s also a step along a clear career development pathway. We’ll give you access to some amazing learning tools, like LinkedIn Learning and Academy Training, as well as a range of external courses and conferences - everything you need to help you develop your career and meet your ambitions.
We’re dedicated to making sure everyone at Openreach has the chance to be the best they can be. We’ve got eight centres across the UK, each with world class facilities, so we can give our field engineers the best training possible.
Real peace of mind comes with knowing our families are taken care of. Our AXA healthcare scheme allows you to add your partner and children to the same plan, so everyone’s covered.
If the worst should happen and you suffer a bereavement, we want to make sure you don’t also suffer the additional stress of financial worries. If you lose your partner or spouse while you’re with us, we’ll provide a tax-free lump payment through our Partner Life Assurance plan.
We can never know what’s around the corner in life, which is why it’s always best to be prepared. We’ll give you access to a will writing service, so you can make sure that whatever happens, your affairs are taken care of and your wishes can be carried out.
We support working families and offer competitive policies for time off when starting a family, or time off when you need it as your family grows and changes.
You can spread the love by gifting your EE mobile discounts to up to four of your friends or family members.
We’ll give you access to discounted Kids Passes for some of the UK’s most beloved attractions - from the thrills and spills of Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, and Drayton Manor, to the magic of Legoland, and the aquatic wonders of the Sea Life Centres.
Whether you’d like to relax with a spa break, indulge in some fine dining, or take on something adventurous like indoor skydiving, you can try a Virgin Experience Day. There are over 2000 to choose from and with Openreach you can spread the cost over 12 months.
Here at Openreach we all work hard to bring broadband to the nation – and we want everyone to enjoy the fruits of our labours. We’ve teamed up with BT and EE to make sure all our Openreach team members can access Broadband, TV and Mobile at a huge discount.
You’ll get access to the BT Sport app completely free, which means you’ll be able to watch a whole host of sports and competitions, including Premier League, Champions League, and Europa League games, UFC, Boxing, and WWE fights, MotoGP, and Premiership Rugby.
At the BT Shop, we offer more exclusive discounts, this time on home tech. This is perfect if you’re looking to pick up the latest gadget, as you can get amazing deals on brands like Apple, Samsung, Amazon, and Microsoft.
We’ve teamed up with the RAC to offer you the chance to register up to three vehicles for Breakdown Cover. You’ll have a choice of four levels of cover – including most of Europe - at a negotiated rate.
It feels good to be appreciated - and even better to show our appreciation to someone else. Our Just To Say Platform is an easy way for the Openreach family to thank each other for help, support, or a job well done.
Everyone at Openreach pulls in the same direction, but when someone really goes above and beyond, we all like to show our appreciation. That’s why we have quarterly awards within our business units -there are prizes of up to £250, and the winner’s chosen from those nominated by their colleagues.
Openreach is a place where you can really build a career and we love to reward long service. We’ll give you a £500 ‘thank you’ gift at the 30 and 40-year milestones, and if you hit the big 5-0, we’ll also honour you with a very special – and richly deserved – celebration.
At Openreach we’re committed to giving something back, and we also recognise that being able to offer your time and talents to a cause that you’re passionate about is good for the soul. We want to make it easier for you to do so, which is why we offer – and encourage everyone to take- up to three days of paid leave, so you can volunteer for a charity or cause that’s close to your heart.
How, and what, someone gives to charity is a personal decision – but if you’d like to make a long-term commitment to a cause you care about, we’ll make it easier for you. Our payroll giving scheme means you can donate a portion of your salary directly to a charity of your choice every month.
