Next Generation Access

Working together to shape tomorrow's communications environment. Next Generation Access (NGA) is the Openreach programme dedicated to shaping tomorrow's communications environment. We're working with our customers, the regulator, industry and other stakeholders to ensure that we build a clear picture of an access network that's fit for the future.

Fibre to the Cabinet

We're replacing a huge swathe of our copper network with fibre - the section that runs from local exchanges to Openreach street cabinets.

Fibre to the Premises

Pure fibre all the way from local exchanges to homes and offices will enable even faster super-fast download speeds of up to 100Mb!.

What is Generic Ethernet Access?

NGA in the context of Fibre to the Cabinet and Fibre to the Premises is brought to the market through the Generic Ethernet Access product. FTTC should be available to 40% of UK premises by 2012. FTTP rollout will be based on demand.
