Product information
The Fibre IRS product provides a one-way high capacity digital TV/Radio broadcast distribution supply from a central reception point to end users premises over an FTTP access network. It utilises a shared fibre infrastructure, based on a multi-way split Passive Optical Network (PON) terminating in the End User premises at an Optical Connector. Openreach will deploy the Fibre IRS service where it provides Generic Ethernet Access (GEA) over FTTP. The service is currently under development but further information is available below or from your Sales Customer Executive.
Fibre IRS is particularly suitable where the installation of individual reception aerials/satellite dishes on the premises is undesirable, prohibited by lease agreements, or in areas where topology restricts the availability of alternative means of reception. The service is exchange based with the ability to cover more than 10,000 customers in excess of 10km radius of the exchange.
