Broadcast Access delivers video broadcast connectivity over the Openreach fibre network, using recognised video transmission standards to ensure seamless integration with existing video equipment or networks
Introduction
Broadcast Access has two main configurations:
-
Point to Point (P2P) service
The Broadcast Access point to point End User service provides connection between two end user sites or, from 3rd September 2008, between an end user site and a CP's site. The Broadcast Access point to point Access Service provides connection between an end user site and the Communications Provider's BT Locate or NetLocate facilities in the BT Local Exchange where the service terminates. -
Outside Broadcast (OB) service
The OB service provides connection between a temporary Outside Broadcast location, and the Communications Provider's BT Locate or NetLocate facilities in the BT Local Exchange where the service terminates.
Each Broadcast Access circuit can be configured to provide up to four channels carrying video signals at the following bandwidths:
-
140Mbit/s framed data, for carrying bespoke video services
-
270Mbit/s for SDI (Serial Digital Interface) video and ASI (Asynchronous Serial Interface)
-
1.485Gbit/s for HD-SDI (High Definition Serial Digital Interface) video
Future plans include the introduction of a 3GBit/s HD-SDI option that will support 1080p high definition video signals. Confirmation of this option will be provided via normal Openreach industry communications.
